Letter to MEP Jordi Sebastià
"Hay una diferencia entre horizontal incumplimiento y la muerte de un ecosistema y el desplazamiento de personas. Tenemos que dejar esto en claro a los administradores de directivas y la ley en la UE, de lo contrario seremos desplazados y nuestro ecosistema moriremos.
El agua que se extrae es no renovable. Cuando se ha ido, se ha ido - morimos - esto es a diferencia de muchos sobre los acuíferos explotados en España y necesita ser tratado como una excepción a la regla de la horizontalidad. !
Debemos ser excepcionalmente bueno con nuestras palabras para que la siguiente pregunta parlamentaria.
José María es clara y consciente de la situación de deterioro y me dijo anoche que el pueblo de Uleila Del Campo ya está completamente seco. Las perforaciones están secos. Nuestra situación es cada vez más grave. Tenemos que conseguir esos agujeros cerrados. Camiones cargados de aceitunas se están plantando ahora .....!
El acuífero puede estar contaminada con radón - esto es una posibilidad seria. José María puede verificar este riesgo grave. Tal vez la Comisión actuará sobre este riesgo. ?
Estamos recibiendo un poco desesperada y, al mismo tiempo seguimos siendo feliz y optimista. El caudal del "río" se ha reducido de un promedio de 40 litros por segundo, y ahora es la medición de entre 4 y 5 litros por segundo. Tenemos agua suficiente para nuestras casas y de riego ya que estamos en la fuente del agua. La situación en los pueblos río abajo se está convirtiendo en crítico.
Thomas Eitzenberger, el Coordinador de Fin Ecocide Worldwide tomar nuestro caso a la Vicepresidenta de la Comisión, y el caso está siendo analizado por la Secretaría de los Derechos Internacionales del Tribunal Naturaleza que se celebrará en París en diciembre junto con la reunión de la COP 21 .
La Secretaría está considerando incluirlo como un ejemplo de la necesidad de que los derechos de la naturaleza, poniendo de relieve, a través de este caso, las deficiencias en la protección de varias capas otorgan a la naturaleza en la Unión Europea.

"There is a difference between horizontal non-compliance and the death of an eco-system and displacement of people. We have to make this clear to the administrators of directives and law in the EU, otherwise we will be displaced and our eco-system will die.
The water being extracted is Non Renewable. When it is gone, it is gone - we die - this is unlike many over exploited aquifers in Spain and needs to be treated as an exception to the rule of horizontality. !
We must be exceptionally good with our words for the next Parliamentary question.
Jose Maria is clear and aware of the deteriorating situation and told me last night that the village of Uleila Del Campo is now completely dry. The bore holes are dry. Our situation is becoming very serious. We have to get those bore holes closed. Truck loads of olives are being planted right now.....!
The aquifer may be contaminated with Radon - this is a serious possibility. Jose Maria can verify this serious risk. Maybe the Commission will act on this risk. ?

The Secretariat are considering including it as an example of the necessity for Rights for Nature, by highlighting, through this case, the shortfalls in multi-layered protections granted to Nature in the European Union.
